On June 24th, the Jinan hosted the "Ink and Fragrance" Chinese Calligraphy Experience in Murcia, Spain, inviting local citizens to participate. From learning to use brushes, ink, paper, and inkstones, to appreciating the form of characters, tracing red characters, and writing Chinese characters by hand, international friends in Murcia meticulously copied calligraphy samples stroke by stroke, experiencing the allure of Chinese calligraphy art.
Chinese calligraphy embodies profound and extensive views of the universe, life, aesthetics, and the times. Throughout its long and glorious history, numerous outstanding calligraphers have emerged, creating a highly diverse range of artistic styles. After the experience, participants expressed that the calligraphy session revealed the structural beauty of Chinese characters, where each stroke like "horizontal," "vertical," "slant," and "press" requires different brush techniques, and making these strokes fit the character structures demands deep calligraphy skills.
While learning about calligraphy, participants also gained insights into the local customs of Jinan and its famous Seventy-Two Springs. They used brushes to write poems by Jinan's renowned poets Li Qingzhao and Xin Qiji. Young attendees expressed their hope to visit China in the future to further experience and learn Chinese calligraphy art and to appreciate Jinan’s rich intangible cultural heritage.
A single stroke of ink can cross vast cultural boundaries. Through this calligraphy experience, the citizens of Murcia felt the unique charm and cultural essence of Chinese calligraphy firsthand.
